Positive: Superb Location right on the beach with amazing view. Nice common area at the restaurant. Good food and affordable prices. Fridge in the room. Good wifi.

Negative: Room a bit small and dark (budget room) but it wasn't a big problem for us.

Positive: Absolute gem in Tioman island. The staff is so welcoming and flexible, always eager to help you. The cabins are so lovely with A/C and minibar. Nothing beats waking up with the sound of the waves. A paradise!!!

Negative: As the staff also warns you, be aware of the sandflies. Coconut oil and repellent helped us a lot but they still got to us 😅 but even million sandfly bites would have not ruined our stay!

Positive: The location on the beach is just superb. A hop and a skip and you are in the ocean. The view is amazing. The little patio in front of the house is lovely to hang out on. The room itself was basic but comfortable. The AC worked very well but I only used it during the day. Not necessary at night. The restaurant is OK. Not great, but the burgers were nice. They don't sell beer, but there's other ways to get beers on Tioman. They provided me with a smooth transfer back to the ferry on Tekek. And they also gave me the tip to ask for a Juara drop-off on the way there, which I did and only had to pay 10 Ringgit extra for at the ferry terminal. They also picked me up (without telling me) from the jetty, so that was a nice surprise.

Negative: There's no blankets on the beds, only a sheet. I personally prefer to have something heavier on me for sleeping. BUT, I have not complained or asked about this, so maybe they did have blankets, I was just too lazy to ask. The walk from the hotel to the road is not long, but quite scary in the dark. I would advise the hotel to put up some lights here for their guests. Also because I was warned about snakes on that path as well. And it is pitch-black at night. Some lights here would have been amazing.

Positive: The staff is amazing. They are super responsive and help you with every inquiry you might have. Also, the food tastes very good and the trips you can do together with them are well planned and worth every cent.

Negative: The only thing that is not perfect but also not their fault are the sand flies, because it makes it a bit less relaxing at the beach. However, you can easily just hang out on the veranda of your room, which is exactly at the beach and more comfortable. You also have your room entirely for yourself, which means no distraction by staff throughout your stay, which is very nice. However, I would have liked to get my water bottles refilled every day or have the possibility to get water bottles at any time of the day when staying there. But this is a very luxurious complaint I would say, as whenever I asked the staff for it, they were instantly giving me a fresh water bottle.

Summary: Calm and relaxing stay on Tioman island that I would do again any time!

Positive: Wonderful location right on the beach, beautiful sunrise and clear water. The rooms are simple, clean, and have basic equipment (fridge, kettle, air conditioning). The food in the restaurant is very good and the staffs are helpful and organize additional attractions. I definitely recommend it!

Negative: You have to watch out for sand flies, unfortunately they cannot be completely avoided, even by applying coconut oil.

Positive: We had such a wonderful stay at Bushman! The cabin is right on a quiet, beautiful beach, with hammocks under the palm trees, perfect for relaxing. Staff were helpful and the food is good at the restaurant. Highly recommended!

Negative: Wish there were screens on the windows so we could have the windows open rather than using the aircon. Also much of the coral is semi-bleached or completely bleached (this is not the property’s fault but it is good to know ahead of time if you are snorkelling or diving). You can still see a lot of fish, I also saw sharks, stingrays and a turtle.

Summary: Beautiful relaxing stay!
